What is Chronic Pain?

Chronic pain is pain that persists for over three months. The pain can be continuous, or it may come and go. The pain can be felt anywhere and at any time. It is estimated that more than 50 million adults in America suffer from chronic pain, and it is the number one cause of disability globally.  Without proper treatment, chronic pain can affect one’s quality of life and even affect one’s mental well-being.

Symptoms

Common symptoms of chronic pain include mild to very bad pain that does not go away as expected after an illness or injury. It may be shooting, burning, aching, or electrical. You many also feel sore, tight, or stiff in the affected area.
